In the 1970’s Seamus Donnelly began using polythene structures on
his farm, and by 1980’s, the volume and size of the tunnels used
had grew considerably. As the volume of the tunnels increased
Seamus decided it would be beneficial to purchase additional rolls
of polythene to have in stock, and gradually this built up. Other
interested parties learned of this excess stock, and would
approach Seamus requesting to buy the polythene for their own
structures. Gradually these parties began relaying their interest
in purchasing an entire polytunnel structure from the farm, as
they had in the past encountered various problems shipping the
structures from England.

As this demand grew, Seamus
Donnelly and his brother-in-law Eamon Tennyson, looked at the
market and realised this was an untouched niche that they could
successfully fill. Seamus and Eamon approached Fordingbridge, who
were based in Arundel, West Sussex. Both Seamus and Eamon had
experience with erecting the Fordingbridge tunnels and they both
knew that their structures were cost effective and of good sound
quality, as they had been used in the Nursery business in the
past. Fordingbridge very happily agreed to allow Seamus and Eamon
to become their Northern Ireland Agents. So in 1986 a partnership
was formed, the only thing left to do was come up with a name for
the new company. After a lot of deliberations is was decided that
the first 4 letters of Eamon’s surname, and the last 4 letters of
Seamus’s surname would be amalgamated, and so Tennelly Products
began business.

Over the years
Tennelly Products has continued to build up hefty business
clientele, of both existing and new customers. As the customer
requirements and needs have changed, the Fordinbridge structures
have changed with them, and nowadays a large and varied choice of
structures is available, which successfully meet all commercial
needs and requirements within this market area.

The premises of
Tennelly Products is based on the Nursery grounds, and because of
the use of the polythene structures in the farm, there is now an
extensive range of these structures in various sizes in which
produce is grown. All visitors are welcome to view these
structures, to give them a more realistic idea of the advantages,
space required and the possible uses of a polythene structure. |
